PIRATES SWEEP TWINBILL; WIN ALL FOUR GAMES AGAINST S.F.
Pittsburgh took both ends of a double header against San Francisco, winning game one, 3-2, behind Bob Moose, who earned the win and Bob Miller, who collected a save. Willie Stargell clubbed his 32sd homerun. WP-Bob Moose(6-7),LP-Juan Marichal, SV-Bob Miller(3), HR-Willie Stargell(32).
Dock Ellis started game two and was strong through five innings, but stumbled in the sixth, allowing three runs. He left as the pitcher of record, with a 5-4 lead. Nelson Briles came in and did a great job, throwing three shutout innings. Bob Robertson had a double and a homer and Milt May had three hits, including a home run. Mudcat Grant pitched the ninth, to close it out, as the Bucs won, 7-4. WP-Dock Ellis(11-3). LP-Frank Reberger. HR-Bob Robertson(21), Milt May(3); Ken Henderson.
Pittsburgh does not play on August 2 as they fly to Montreal to play the Expos. The standings will be posted with the August 2 N.L. East results.
