1971 Pittsburgh Pirates Replay

GM# 125 AUGUST 19, 1971 AT CINCINNATI REDS

ROBERTSON BELTS 2 HR’S; RED COMMIT 5 ERRORS IN 7-1 BUCS WIN

Pittsburgh got a big day from first baseman, Bob Robertson, who clubbed a pair of homers and Cincinnati pitched in with a very sloppy defensive performance, as the Pirates took the opener of a four game set, 7-1.

The Red made five errors, two by starter, Jim McGlothin. Even all star catcher, Johnny Bench, had a miscue. In all, four of the Bucs’ seven runs were unearned.

It was Robby’s second multi homer game of the year. Bob Johnson went six innings to collect the win. WP-Johnson(5-5). LP-Jim McGlothin. HR-Robertson 2(25).

Bruce Kison squares off against Ross Grimsley in game two.
