BUCS SWEEP TWINBILL WITH BRAVES; BLASS PITCHES C.G. IN OPENER

STARGELL, ROBERTSON BOTH HOMER IN SECOND GAME

Pittsburgh won both ends of their doubleheader with Atlanta. Steve Blass pitched his sixth complete game of the season, in a 4-1 win; then in the second contest, both Willie Stargell and Bob Robertson belted home runs, enroute to a 9-0 victory.

Blass scattered seven hits in the opener, but was never in serious trouble. He struck out five along the way. WP-Steve Blass(14-4). LP-Phil Niekro.

Bob Moose started game two and went seven innings and though he allowed no runs, he dodged several land mines along the way. In all, the Braves left 15 runners stranded and seven times, had runners in scoring position, yet failed to cash in. Bob Veale and Mudcat Grant each tossed an inning of scoreless ball.

In the top of the sixth, Bob Robertson clubbed a two run blast, his 27th, while in the top of the ninth, Willie Stargell hit a solo homer, his 37th of the year. WP-Bob Moose(7-10). LP-Tom Kelley.

Game three of the series has Bob Johnson going against Ron Reed. Mike McQueen was scheduled to pitch for the Braves, but was a late scratch.
