EVANS’ TWO RUN SMASH IS DIFFERENCE IN BRAVES, 6-4 WIN OVER BUCS

Darrell Evans belted a two run homerun off reliever, Nellie Briles in the bottom of the seventh, breaking a 4-4 tie and leading Atlanta past Pittsburgh, 6-4. Bob Johnson started for Pittsburgh and went six innings; Ron Reed lasted four innings for Atlanta.

Henry Aaron also homered for the Braves and Willie Stargell and Manny Sanguillen went deep for the Pirates. WP-Bob Priddy. LP-Nelson Briles(9-7). HR-Darrell Evans, Henry Aaron; Willie Stargell(38), Manny Sanguillen(4).

The final game of the series has Bruce Kison in the box against George Stone.
