BUCS PUT UP SEASON HIGH 15 RUNS AGAINST CUBS

The Pittsburgh Pirates won the third and final game in their most recent series with Chicago, putting up fifteen runs in a 15-8 slugfest.

Willie Stargell and Milt May both had monster games. Stargell scored five runs and drove in five, both season highs. He had a home run, a double and reached on three walks. May also knocked in five runs. He hit a home run, along with three singles and a walk. Al Oliver chipped in with a single and a double and three rbi’s.

Steve Blass started and did not have a good day. He gave up five runs in four innings, but escaped with a no-decision, thanks to the offense. Chicago burned through seven pitchers and issued nine walks, to go with seventeen hits. WP-Bob Moose(10-10). LP-Bill Bonham. HR-Pepitone, Callison; Stargell(42), May(4).
