Satchel Paige earned his second victory of the year and also his first complete game, as he went the distance in a 5-1 Athletics win over the Boston Red Sox. Paige also chipped in at the plate, with two hits and two runs batted in.
Al Brancato added a triple and a double, scoring twice and driving in a pair. Josh Gibson added a double.
The Athletics now welcome the New York Yankees to Shibe Park. They won the series earlier this year, in Yankee Stadium.
