The Philadelphia Athletics rattled off their fifth straight win by routing the New York Yankees, 14-8. The game was highlighted by a Bob Johnson, grand slam; as the A’s put up seven runs in the fifth inning. Big Bill Foster pitched a four hit shutout, to earn his second win of the year.
The new look Athletics, buoyed by several Negro league stars, are proving a force to be reckoned with, as they are currently in first place in the American League, with a 7-1 record. Their only loss this year was to this Yankee team.
