Bullet Joe Rogan gave up a solo homerun to Jimmie Foxx, in the bottom of the second, but Philadelphia scored two runs in the top of the fourth, to take a 2-1 lead. They could not make it hold up, however, as Rogan allowed two straight singles in the bottom of the sixth, then Bobby Doerr hit a bases clearing triple. Doerr himself would later score on a Jim Tabor sacrifice fly.
