The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first behind Bob Feller, then both teams traded zeroes over the next six innings. Philadelphia finally broke through and scored two runs in the seventh off Clint Brown, who had replaced Feller. Those runs came courtesy of a two run blast off the bat of Ray Dandridge. Eddie Collins Jr. led off the ninth with a double and the Athletics went on to salt the game away by scoring five more runs off Cleveland pitching.
