The Detroit Tigers set a new Strat-O-Matic House record for both runs in a game and hits in a game, after destroying the Athletics, 18-6. 17 runs was the previous record, set by three different teams.

Bill Foster trailed 5-0 after just two innings and four more A’s pitchers did little else to stop the bleeding. Pinky Higgins went 5-6 for Detroit and had a homer and five rbi’s. Rudy York drove in four and was 4 for 6.

The only bright spot for Philadelphia was Buck Leonard, who had two doubles and two home runs.
