Jack Hallett of the Chicago White Sox pitched a five hit shutout against the Philadelphia Athletics, 6-0. That is the first time the new, high powered offense of the A’s has been held scoreless.

Satchel Paige, in by far his worst start this season, left after just three innings, trailing 4-0. He only managed one strikeout and walked three. He also hit a batter.

Luke Appling and Dario Lodigiani led the White Sox offense with three hits apiece.
