WP-BULLET BOB FOSTER(4-0) LP-SCHOOLBOY ROWE
HR-JOSH GIBSON(8), JAMES BELL(2), BUCK LEONARD(4)
After the team went without a homerun for four straight games, the Philadelphia Athletics belted three in this game, getting long balls from Josh Gibson, James Bell and Buck Leonard, as they defeated the Detroit Tigers, 8-4.
Bob Foster earned his fourth win against zero defeats, but he was not at his best in this one. His strikeout ball was working, as he logged seven punchouts in five innings pitched, but also allowed three runs over that span.
A six run outburst in the bottom of the second, was the downfall for Detroit’s Schoolboy Rowe. It was capped by Bell’s three run clout.
