Fred Caligiuri continues to draw inspiration from his Negro League teammates. Some pitchers would have resented their joining the team, but not Fred. Despite being the fourth starter in the rotation, he is undefeated at 5-0 and pitched his first shutout of the season, in a 5-0 win against the Detroit Tigers.
Josh Gibson homered for the second straight day and now has nine on the year. Philadelphia wins the series, two games to one.
