HR-BILLY KNICKERBOCKER; COOL PAPA BELL(3)
James “Cool Papa” Bell, was absolutely tremendous from the leadoff spot, in Philadelphia’s, 8-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Bell was 4-5, with a homerun and a double. He crossed the plate three times and drove in five runs. Ray Dandridge had three singles and Wally Moses and Al Brancato added a double and single each. Even Satchel Paige helped out with the stick, with two single and two runs scored.
Satchel was his usual fine self in the box. He tossed a complete game, four hitter, only missing out on a shutout when Knickerbocker hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth inning.
