In an amazing display of pitching, the Philadelphia Athletics have shutout the Washington Senators for three straight games. Joe Rogan and Tom Ferrick combined for the first whitewash, 1-0; then Bill Foster blanked the Senators, 4-0 and finally, Fred Caligiuri, who has had a season for the ages, finished up with a 3-0, four hitter.
The Athletics pitching has taken the baseball world by storm. Here are the four starters won lost records and earned run averages: Satchel Paige 8-1 2.07; Joe Rogan 3-2 1.98; Bill Foster 5-0 1.77 and Fred Caligiuri 7-0 2.01.
The team has a day off tomorrow, then heads out on a long road trip. There are several scheduled double headers coming up and some spot starts by other than the big four, are expected.
