After two straight losses, the Athletics turned to their #1 man, Satchel Paige and he answered the bell, with a three hit shutout, his fourth whitewash of the year, as Philadelphia demolished Detroit, 10-0.
Though Biz Mackey, who spelled Josh Gibson behind the plate, homered, it was bases on balls which doomed the Tigers. Detroit pitching issued 13 free passes, six of which came around to score.
Paige fanned seven and walked just one in another stellar performance. These two clubs will wrap up the finale of the series tomorrow.
