Philadelphia opened their latest home stand on a bum note, dropping a 5-2 decision, to Eldon Auker and the St. Louis Browns. The Athletics were out hit, 15-5, managing just two runs. Those came in the bottom of the sixth. James Bell tripled and came in on Wally Moses’ sacrifice fly, then Ray Dandridge hit a solo home run, for the team’s only runs.

It was the second straight loss for Bill Foster, who lasted just five innings.
