Two winning streaks ended today. First, the Athletics’ season high, eight game winning streak ended, with a 5-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers and on an individual basis, Fred Caligiuri finally suffered his first loss after ten straight wins.
It was evident that it wasn’t Caligiuri’s day from the outset. His control was off and he allowed four walks. Detroit got to him for ten hits, but no one goes a whole season without a loss and it was just a matter of time before he got beat.
