The Athletics returned to action after the All Star Break, but were defeated by the Cleveland Indians, 3-0. Bob Feller, ace of the Indians, tossed a three hit shutout. Fred Caligiuri allowed three runs on six hits, including a Ken Keltner homer, in just his second loss of the year.
