Satchel Paige dropped just his second decision of the year, 5-2, against the lowly St. Louis Browns. Paige allowed a double, two singles, a walk and a home run in the bottom of the second inning, leading to five, St. Louis runs.
That would end Paige’s day. Lum Harris came on and tossed five innings of scoreless relief. However, except for solo homers by Buck Leonard and Josh Gibson; Philadelphia was unable to generate much offense.
Browns starter, Bob Muncrief went the distance, earning the complete game victory. He allowed just five hits.
The red hot Yankees have closed the gap to just one game. The Athletics have dropped three games in a row and six of their last ten.
