Satchel Paige allowed seven hits and four walks, yet was able to chalk up win #15, despite leaving the game in the seventh inning, trailing, 1-0. Philadelphia scored twice in the bottom of that inning, then Josh Gibson added a key insurance run in the eighth, with his 26th home run. That run proved to be important, as Lum Harris, who had relieved Paige, gave up a run to the Tigers in the top of the ninth.
