GM# 96 JULY 31, 1941 VS. CHICAGO WHITE SOX
CHICAGO WINS, 6-2, ENDING ATHLETICS’ SEVEN GAME WIN STREAK
CHI 6 14 0
PHI 2 6 0
WP-JOHNNY RIGNEY LP-JOE ROGAN(10-6)
Chicago’s Johnny Rigney went the distance in a 6-2 White Sox win over the Athletics, ending a seven game Philadelphia win streak. That is one short of the eight game run they had back in June.
Rigney tossed scoreless ball until the seventh, when Philadelphia’s Pete Suder singled in Bob Johnson. The team would scratch out one more run in the bottom of the ninth, when Josh Gibson doubled and scored, but the game was really over at that point.
Bob Feller and the Cleveland Indians come into town next.
