In a slugfest with Boston, the Philadelphia Athletics scored a season-high, 16 runs, in a 16-10 victory. Not only was it the most runs the Athletics have scored in one game this year, but it also sets a new mark for combined runs by both teams, with 26. That eclipses the old mark of 24, set on May 2sd, when the Detroit Tigers routed the Athletics, 18-6.

3 Athletics players hit home runs, including two by Josh Gibson. It was the fourth time this season he has had a multi homer game. Satchel Paige started and went seven, but the Red Sox scored 8 runs over the last four innings, and Paige left with a no decision.
