GM# 101 AUGUST 5, 1941 AT BOSTON RED SOX
TED WILLIAMS HOMERS IN BOTTOM OF 9TH TO WIN IT, 6-4, FOR BOSTON
PHI 4 12 0
BOS 6 11 0
WP-JACK WILSON LP-TOM FERRICK(4-5)
HR-TED WILLIAMS, JIM TABOR; BOB JOHNSON(11)
Ted Williams’ walk off clout, gave the Boston Red Sox a 6-4 win over Philadelphia, as the two clubs, split a short, two game series. Joe Rogan started and went eight innings, but allowed the Red Sox to tie the game, four all, on a Jim Tabor, solo home run in the last of the eighth.
Tom Ferrick then relived Rogan. He allowed a lead off single to Dom DiMaggio, but retired the next two batters. Williams then spoiled things, with a game winning home run.
Philadelphia now heads to Washington, for another two game set, with the Senators. They then return home to square off against the mighty Yankees.
