  The Yankees took the first game of a double header against the Athletics in relatively easy fashion, by an 8-2 margin. Lum Harris made a spot start and worked six and a third, but gave up four runs in that span.

  New York banged out five extra base hits, including three triples. Ray Dandridge and Pete Suder managed two hits each for Philadelphia.
