Joe Rogan notched his sixth complete game win of the season, beating the Red Sox, 6-1, in the first of two games at Shibe Park. Bullet Joe helped his own cause by banging out a pair of doubles, one of five two baggers Philadelphia had on the day.

BOS 1 10 0

PHI 3 6 2

WP-JOE WILLIAMS(5-5) LP-JACK WILSON

HR-JOSH GIBSON(36), BENNY MCCOY(2)

This time around, it was Smokey Joe Williams who went the distance, to earn his second complete game, in a 3-1 win, in game two. All of Philadelphia’s runs came via the long ball. Benny McCoy and Josh Gibson belted back to back home runs in the first inning and that was all Williams needed. Gibson also reached the 100 rbi plateau.

The Athletics head out on an 18 game road trip, starting in New York.
