Satchel Paige earned win #19 and Tom Ferrick tossed two and two third innings of scoreless ball, as Philadelphia got past St. Louis, 9-2. The Browns could only manage four hits, though the Athletics allowed three free passes.
Philadelphia plated six runs in the top of the second, highlighted by Josh Gibson’s bases clearing triple. Crash Davis had a three-hit day, while Gibson, Buck Leonard, Pete Suder and Alan Brancato all chipped in with two each.
