Reserve first baseman, Dick Siebert belted his first home run of the year and made it a memorable one, smashing a third inning, grand slam, to lead Philadelphia past St. Louis, 11-5. The Athletics end up taking three of four in their latest series. Siebert had a single and double to go along with his “granny”, in a five rbi afternoon.
In addition, Buck Leonard hit a pinch hit homer in the top of the ninth and winning pitcher, Joe Rogan, cleared the fence; the first time a pitcher has hit a circuit clout all year.
The team now continues their road trip, next heading to Briggs Stadium to take on the Detroit Tigers.
