Game one was a sloppy effort defensively, with both teams combining for five errors. Two players had four hit days for Philadelphia, first, Ray Dandridge, who had a triple and three singles, along with Buck Leonard, who had a home run, two doubles and a single. Leonard’s eighth inning blast put the Athletics ahead to stay, 6-5. Tom Ferrick put two men on in the bottom of the ninth, but was able to get out of it with no runs scoring.

WP-EARL JOHNSON LP-MEL HARRIS(4-5)
HR-DOM DIMAGGIO
It was all Boston in game two. Mel Harris started and gave up six runs in five innings, one unearned. Sam Chapman and Josh Gibson had two hits apiece for the Athletics. Dom DiMaggio had a big day for the Red Sox, going 4-5, with a home run, three runs scored and two rbi’s.
Philadelphia has back to back doubleheaders, as they return to Shibe Park to battle the New York Yankees.
