Cleveland led, 4-3, behind Bob Feller, who went seven innings. The game went into the bottom of the ninth, with the Athletics needing a run to tie. They got it, when Benny McCoy singled, moved to second on a Bob Johnson ground out, then scored on a Wally Moses two bagger. The game moved into the tenth, with Tom Ferrick on the hill. Starter, Joe Rogan went just five innings, only to be replaced by Porter Vaughan, who was replaced by Bump Hadley, until Ferrick toed the slab. Ferrick pitched a scoreless tenth, then in the home half of the inning, Josh Gibson laced a two out triple. With the Athletics catcher perched on third base. Johnson hit a grounder which was muffed by first baseman Grimes(his second error of the game) and Gibson jogged home with the winning tally.
