Chicago’s Bill Rigney grinded out a complete game win, getting out of several jams along the way, as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Philadelphia Athletics, 3-1. Luke Appling hit a pair of sacrifice flies and Bob Kennedy hit an rbi triple, to account for Chicago’s runs. Don Kolloway had three hits and scored twice for the visitors. Philadelphia’s lone tally came in the very first inning, when Bell led off with a solo home run against Rigney.
