After the team dropped two straight games, their best pitcher, Satchel Paige, put them on his back, with his eighth shutout win, whitewashing the Chicago White Sox, 8-0. Paige has been one of the, if not the best, pitcher in the American League this year.
Josh Gibson belted his forty first home run and Buck Leonard also went deep for Philadelphia.
