Phenoms’ designated hitter, Eddie Murray socked a two-run blast in the top of the ninth, to break a 1-1 tie and send the squad of rookies to their first barnstorming victory, 3-2, over the National League’s Boston representative.
Mark Fidrych was excellent. He pitched eight plus innings, allowing two runs on just three hits. Bruce Sutter pitched an inning to earn the first save of the tour.
