PHENOMS OFFENSE EXPLODES IN 10-2 ROUT OF 1920 YANKEES

WP-KERRY WOOD (3-0) LP-CARL MAYS

HR-ANDRE DAWSON (2), JOHNNY BENCH (1); BABE RUTH

One day after suffering their worst loss of the tour so far, the Phenoms bounced bag with their biggest margin of victory, a 10-2 thrashing of the 1920 New York Yankees.

Kerry Wood, who is settling in as the ace of the staff, won his third decision without a loss. The flamethrower fanned nine batters in seven and two third innings. Bench players, Andre Dawson and Johnny Bench both homered. Dawson in particular, is showing he may just belong as the starting center fielder. Willie Mays, though the stronger fielder, is in a terrific slump at the plate. He’s batting just .171, with no homeruns. Dawson, on the other hand, is 5 for 12, with two home runs and five runs batted in.

Joe Jackson was strong again at the top of the order. He was 3-5, with a walk and scored twice.
