Pete Alexander earned his second complete game win of the tour, as the Phenoms defeated the 1920 Detroit Tigers, 8-1.
Alexander retired the first fourteen batters he faced, before plunking Ira Flagstead with a pitch, in the bottom of the fifth. That led to Detroit’s only run of the game, as Babe Pinelli would single in Flagstead, later that inning.
Alexander gave up just four hits, struck out two and did not issue a single free pass. Eddie Murray led the offense, with a home run, triple and sacrifice fly, driving in four of the Phenoms’ eight runs. Andre Dawson had a double and two singles, while Jackson, Tulowitzki, Ripken and Lefebvre had two hits apiece.
The Phenoms are on an eight-game winning streak.
