Phenoms starter, Jose Fernandez’s 26 consecutive inning scoreless streak was stopped in the second inning, but that was the only bad news in this game, as Fernandez and the Phenoms went on to a 10-4 rout of the 1920 Chicago Cubs.
Orlando Cepeda belted a grand slam in the seventh inning off Virgil Cheeves and Cal Ripken, Jr., preceded that feat, with a three-run clout, in the sixth. Those two batters also each added a double and a single to their days work. Dustin Pedroia added a pair of doubles, Mark Tulowitzki had a triple.
Jose Fernandez earned his fourth win, leaving after six innings. Joe Page got some needed work, but even in a low leverage situation, he had his troubles. Pitching the finals three innings, Page allowed three runs on six hits. He had a wild pitch and also hit a batter.
