WP-KERRY WOOD (5-0) LP-JOHNNY COONEY
Kerry Wood earned his fifth straight victory and his first shutout by defeating the 1924 Boston Braves, 3-0.
It was not easy by any means, as Woods scattered seven hits and a walk, against eight punchouts. The Braves had a runner in scoring position seven times in the game yet failed to score a single run. He was aided by some great defense, such as Andre Dawson gunning down Casey Stengel at home plate, to complete a double play in the bottom of the third inning.
Troy Tulowitzki was the only player for the Phenoms to have two hits, score a run and drive in a run.
