WP-WALTER JOHNSON LP-JOE PAGE (1-1)
HR-ORLANDO CEPEDA (4)
All good things must end, it is said, and Walter Johnson and the 1924 Washington Senators, decided it was time to end a nine-game winning streak, for the barnstorming Phenoms baseball club.
They did so with a 5-3 victory, with Johnson tossing seven quality innings. Pete Alexander started for the Phenoms and went five. The Senators led, 2-1 after five innings, then tacked on three more against Joe Page, in the sixth. Orlando Cepeda hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth, getting Alexander off the hook, but things were largely out of hand at that point. Eddie Murray and Joe Jackson each had a pair of doubles, in the loss.
