For the first time, the Phenoms have dropped two games in a row and for just the second time, they have been held scoreless, as Pittsburgh defeated them, 6-0, with Ray Kremer, on the hill.
The first time the team was whitewashed was when Walter Johnson turned the trick in the 1911 block, with a 1-0 victory over Jose Fernandez. In this game, Kramer scattered six hits, struck out two, walked three and hit a batter. Though the Phenoms had five men in scoring position, they were unable to score a single run.
Pie Traynor had three hits for Pittsburgh. Clyde Barnhardt had two singles and walked twice, scoring three of the team’s six runs. Kiki Cuyler was a double short of hitting for the cycle.
