Bruce Sutter had the tying run at third base and the winning run on first, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but struck out Harry Hooper, to preserve a nail biter of a win for the Phenoms.

A walk and two singles off Jose Fernandez led to the game’s first run, in the bottom of the second inning. The Phenoms took the lead in the top of the third. Joe Jackson singled, stole second and scored on Tulowitzki’s single. A base hit by Andre Dawson pushed Tulo to third, where he scored on a Frank Robinson, sacrifice fly.

A two-base error by Tulowitzki allowed the White Sox to tie the game in the last of the sixth. Bob Meusel stroked a one out double in the top of the seventh. He scored when Tulowitzki hit a rbi single, putting the Phenoms back in front.

Mark Eichhorn pitched the seventh in relief of Fernandez, then Bruce Sutter took over for the eighth and ninth. There was drama in the ninth, as the White Sox had runners on the corners with two out, but Sutter reared back and fanned Hooper, to ice the win.
