GM# 50. AT 1934 BOSTON BRAVES. BRAVES FIELD, BOSTON, MA.
SOLID BULLPEN; THREE HOMERS, PUSH PHENOMS PAST BRAVES
PHENOMS 5
BRAVES 3
WP- PETE ALEXANDER (7-1) LP- BEN CANTWELL
HR-CHRIS CHAMBLISS (1), CAL RIPKEN (5), CARLTON FISK (3)
The Phenoms slugged three home runs, including the first by Chris Chambliss, who came off the bench today, to spell Orlando Cepeda at first base. Pete Alexander had a 5 to 1 lead, with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, when he stumbled, allowing a single and back-to-back doubles. That would lead to two more Boston runs; however, Mark Eichhorn came in from the bullpen and shut the Braves down over the next three and a third innings. Alexander notched the win, his seventh against only one loss, while Eichhorn recorded his fifth save. Joe Jackson remains hot as a firecracker from the top of the lineup. He was 3-4, with two doubles and a walk.
