After three straight wins against 1934 clubs, the Phenoms lost their first game on this leg of the tour, dropping a 4-3 decision to the New York Yankees.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning and the game remained tied until Bill Dickey singled in Babe Ruth, in the bottom of the sixth. The Phenoms would answer right back in the top of the seventh, when Orlando Cepeda clubbed his sixth homer of the tour, to tie things back up.

New York went ahead to stay in the last of the eighth. Earle Combs led off with a single against Mark Eichhorn, who took over for starter, Vean Gregg. He was quickly moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Eichhorn was able to fan Ruth, but Lou Gehrig stroked a rbi single, to make it 4-3.

Yankee reliever, Johnny Murphy made that score hold up, despite walking two batters in the top of the ninth.
