Boston’s Jimmie Foxx doubled in Joe Cronin with the winning run, in the bottom of the eleventh inning, as the 1941 Boston Red Sox beat the Phenoms, 6-5.
Pete Alexander started and went six and two thirds. He allowed four runs on nine hits. The Phenoms took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Mark Eichhorn blew the save chance, surrendering doubles to Lou Finney and Ted Williams.
The Phenoms missed a huge opportunity in the top of the tenth, when Mark Ryba struck out Eddie Murray, with the bases loaded.
