Some good defense and the inability of the 1941 Phillies to cash in, led to Hideo Nomo’s notching his third shutout win on the tour, as he blanked the Phils, 3-0. Though Hideo limited Philadelphia to just three hits, he also walked five batters and threw two wild pitches. However, a runner on third base in the bottom of the seventh, would be as close as the Phillies would get to a run. Nomo also struck out eight, as he continues to battle Kerry Wood for the team lead in punchouts. Nomo has 104 to Wood’s 102.
