Kerry Wood’s terrific pitching win streak has come to an end, at the hand of Max Butcher and the 1941 Pittsburgh Pirates. Wood allowed four earned runs, two of them on solo home runs by Bob Elliott and Al Lopez.

In fact, three streaks ended in this game. Along with Wood’s win streak, the loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the team. In addition, Joe Jackson saw a 16-game hitting streak come to an end, as he went 0-4. Jackson was hit by a pitch in the first inning and scored a run.

Cal Ripken had three singles, in the loss.
