Hideo Nomo has pitched another shutout, his second in a row after he blanked the 1941 Philadelphia Phillies in game #71. He is the Phenoms team leader in the category, with four in total.

In this game, Nomo allowed just four hits, struck out four and walked two. The offense consisted of a pair of two run home runs, one by Andre Dawson, in the fourth, the other, by Cal Ripken, in the top of the ninth.

Thornton Lee pitched very well for the White Sox. Over eight innings, he scattered six hits, the only real mistake being the hanging curve to Dawson. At one point, Lee retired 14 batters in a row.
