The Phenoms jumped out to a five-run lead, behind Hideo Nomo, but the ’49 Athletics hung around, putting up four runs over the last four innings. They would eventually fall, 6-4. Philadelphia only managed five hits, but they totaled six walks, two of which scored. Frank Robinson had three hits for the visitors.
