Jose Fernandez went the distance, fanning a tour high, twelve batters, as the Phenoms edged the 1949 Cincinnati Reds, 2-1.
Fernandez allowed just four hits, unfortunately, one was a solo home run by Jimmy Bloodworth, in the last of the fifth. The Phenoms scored twice in the top of the third. One run was unearned. Troy Tulowitzki reached on an error, then later scored on Andre Dawson’s triple. Dawson himself scored on a Cal Ripken ground out.
