GM# 98. AT 1951 BOSTON BRAVES. BRAVES FIELD, BOSTON, MA.
TOUR RECORD: 1951 PHASE (1-1) OVERALL (71-27)
’51 BOSTON BRAVES STOMP PHENOMS, 9-4
PHENOMS 4
BRAVES 9
WP- WARREN SPAHN LP-KERRY WOOD (13-2)
HR- EDDIE MURRAY (14), CAL RIPKEN (20)
When the Phenoms scored two runs in the top of the first inning against Warren Spahn, the team felt pretty good about it. That good feeling was short lived, however, as the ’51 Boston Braves jumped on Kerry Wood, for four runs in the bottom of the first. The Braves would go on to a 9-4 win, in one of Kerry’s shortest outings of the year.
Four Phenoms pitchers issued a total of seven walks, four of which would come around to score. The usually stellar Joe Jackson made two errors in right field, one of those also leading to a run.
The Phenoms did pick up two garbage time home runs, as Murray and Ripken went back-to-back in the top of the ninth, but all in all, a game to forget.
NEXT GAME: AT 1951 BROOKLYN DODGERS
