Willie Mays left the Phenoms to play for the 1951 Giants today and was 2-5, with a pair of singles. The Giants rocked Hideo Nomo for five runs in the bottom of the second, capped by a three-run home run by Hank Thomson, in a 7-4 loss.
Sal “The Barber” Maglie, went seven innings for New York, to earn the victory. Joe Jackson has been fading of late. He went 0-4 in this game and after batting over .400 for much of the tour, he is now at .377.
